Deacon Dave highly recommends this old fashioned dinner. This dish was served at many of Deacon Dave’s events including the 2006 Fiesta da Pomba (Festival of the Dove) honoring the Most Holy Spirit. This is a dish you must try. ½ to 1 lb. ground beef ¾ lb. bacon cut into small pieces 1 cup chopped onion 2 cans (1 lb. 15 oz.) size port & beans 1 can (lb.) kidney beans – drained 1 can (lb.) butter lima beans – drained 1 cup ketchup ¼ cup brown sugar 1 Tablespoon liquid smoke 3 Tablespoons white vinegar 1 tsp. salt Dash of pepper Brown ground beef in skillet and drain off fat then but beef in Crock-pot Brown bacon and onions and drain off fat. Add bacon & onions to ingredients in Crock-pot. Add remaining ingredients to Crock-pot. Stir together well and cover. Cook low four (4) to Nine (9) hours. Add more beans if necessary.
