In the early 1980's Rev. Deacon Dave Chaired the Christmas Decoration Committee. He was responsible for bringing together 175 people of all ages of the parish to be involved in the Christmas Environment. Adults, Children over 16, College men and women and teens all participated in decorating the Church. For several years the High School teens under the Deacon's supervision outlined the outside of St. Michael's Church with white lights. Deacon Dave believed in the cultural heritage of many ethnic groups in the parish and encouraged them to become involved in the decoration process. The results were very colorful for the Glory of God. As seen in the picture with the brilliant red pointsettias every potted plant, tree, and shrub was donated by a parish member. Just to water the plants took several helpers to keep the plants alive. Volunteers included: carpenters, banner makers, light hangers, lighting technicians, decorators and all around helpers. People from other Churches came to see the environment. |
