Last night Deacon Dave held the annual Christmas Staff Christmas Party. All the volunteers were present when the deacon awarded the coveted “House of the Dove” Christmas Red Jacket.

The prized jacket is awarded to those people who have worked at least three years on the Christmas displays. Other factors that are also considered is time volunteered, Christmas passion, attitude and more.

Rev. Deacon called forth two people to receive the award this year. Mr. Jim Trebes who has volunteered for the past three years and in those three years has put in many long hours in contributing to the display that delights so many people. Congratulations Jim!

Mr. Thomas Malone was awarded a jacket for his three years of service to the House of the Dove Christmas display. Thomas first started as an all around helper and graduated to the carpentry level. Thomas is college age and enjoys seeing people smile when they enter the gates of the House of the Dove. Congratulations Tom!

After the Awards Deacon Dave issued the pledge of Secrecy to the assembled staff. A hush enveloped the gathering. For all knew that the Rev. Deacon was about to announce the Christmas 2007 Christmas Theme.

After the deacon’s announcement he gave a few illustrations of the 2007 theme. All were excited and are eager to begin planning.

Next years Christmas display, in keeping with opening on the First Friday of December will be: Friday December 7th, 2007. The Opening night ceremonies begin with the annual procession down Hillcrest Ave. at 6:30 pm..

2007 will mark the 25th Anniversary of Deacon Dave’s Christmas Displays and the 25th Anniversary of his Ordination as a Roman Catholic Deacon.
